The Girl in the waiting Room

On the hardest days, you showed up every time. I met Nicole the day my husband had his Whipple surgery in 2025. My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic Adenocarcinoma 1/3/25.

Nicole was a nurse at the cancer Institute. I met  Nicole while I was in the waiting room, waiting to hear the update regarding my husband’s surgery. She reassured me that she was there for anything I needed, and instantly I trusted her. She met us again in April when we began chemotherapy; she happened to be our infusion nurse. The day we graduated (last treatment), she presented my husband with his certificate of completion. No more chemotherapy, it was finished.

Just recently out of the blue, she called to check on us. I told her about my husband’s recent pet scan, the reoccurrence of pancreatic cancer, and the upcoming daily radiation and weekly chemo infusions, and without hesitation, she said, "I will be there to sit with during his first radiation. The day of treatment  my husband & I walked into the hospital and there she was, with a big smile, holding her three-year-old son.  I stood there feeling so overwhelmed with love. Thank you for always showing up when it mattered most.

Love~ the girl in the waiting room.
